An upper line reads: 「至元通行寳鈔」 zhì yuán tōng háng bǎo chā (Pinyin left line: 'Phags-pa script) reads: zhì yuán bǎo chāo : to say 「至元寳鈔」. The smaller Chinese characters in the bottom half of the note say "(this note) can be circulated in various provinces without expiration dates. Counterfeiters would be put to death.
This banknote has a value of èr guàn ( 貳貫 ) printed on it, where 貳 is the version of the word "two" used in financial writing, and 貫 is a unit of measure called a string of cash coins. Directly under the words "貳貫" are a picture of 2 circular strings of cash coins, visually depicting the physical currency value represented by this banknote.Français : Billet de banque de la dynastie Yuan xylographié en 1287 et sa matrice à gauche. Sur une ligne en haut on peut lire : 「至元通行寳鈔」(en chinois simplifié : 至元通行宝钞, en pinyin : zhìyuán tōng háng bǎochāo) signifiant : billets de banque en circulation sous la dynastie Yuan. Sur la ligne verticale à gauche des doubles zéro, en écriture 'phags-pa, on peut lire : zhì yuán bǎo chāo ( 至元寳鈔」) signifiant billet de banque de la dynastie Yuan.
