English: Hawai Sepoy (Later Wing Commander) and Air Gunner Kartar Singh Taunque with Flt.Lt. Mukherji (Later Air Marshal). Kartar Singh Taunque was the first ever air man of Indian Airforce (then Royal Indian Airforce) to be decorated for gallantry in battle field. Taunque flying as the Air Gunner with Flt.Lt. Peter Haynes conducted a daring bombing raid in 1938 in the mission known as "Operations in Waziristan".
