English: This photograph was taken by me at the Sangameshvara temple (also spelt Sangameshwara) in Pattadakal, Karnataka state, India. The temple is sometimes called Vijayeshvara temple. The old-Kannada language inscription tablet records that a grant to the temple was made by Badami Chalukya Dynasty King Vijayaditya who ruled from 696-733 A.D. The inscription itself is dated 1162 A.D. (Saka 1084 in words) and is ascribed to the Sinda chieftain Chavunda II (source:Pâli, Sanskṛit and old Canarese inscriptions from the Bombay Presidency and parts of the Madras Presidency and Maisûr, chapter:Analysis of Inscriptions, Pattadakal:pg.15, item.67-John Faithful Fleet, James Burgess, Archæological Survey of Western India, 1878
