भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस द्वारा 1931 से इस झंडे का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। इसे पहली बार 31 अक्टूबर 1931 को जारी किया गया था।
1931 തോട്ട് ഈ പതാക കോണ്ഗ്രസ് ഉപയോഗിച്ച പതാകയായിരുന്നു. പിന്നിട് നേതാജിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള സ്വതന്ത്ര ഭാരതത്തിനുള്ള താത്കാലിക സർക്കാർ ഈ പതാക ഉപയോഗിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
پرچمی که بوسیله کنگره ملی هند در سال ۱۹۳۱ به تصویب رسید. و اولین بار در ۳۱ اکتبر ۱۹۳۱ برافراشته شد.
