বাংলা: ইয়েমেনের শাহজাদা হযরত মখদুম শাহদৌলা শহীদ ইয়ামেনী (রহঃ) এর নামানুসারে শাহজাদপুর এলাকার নামকরণ করা হয়েছে। কথিত আছে, হযরত মখদুম শাহদৌলা শহীদ ইয়ামেনী (রহঃ) ১১৯২-৯৬ সালের মধ্যে ইয়েমেন থেকে ধর্মপ্রচারার্থে যাত্রা শুরু করে বোখারা শহরে আগমন করেন। বোখারা শহরে হযরত জালাল উদ্দিন বোখারী (রহঃ) এর দরবার শরীফে তার সঙ্গে কিছু সময় অতিবাহিত করে তিনি বাংলার পথে যাত্রা শুরু করে বাংলার এই অঞ্চলে আগমন করেন। হযরত জালাল উদ্দিন বোখারী (রহঃ) এক জোড়া কবুতর উপহার দেন যাহা জালালী কবুতর নামে পরিচিত। তিনি বাংলায় প্রবেশ করে ইসলাম প্রচার শুরু করলে তৎকালীন সুবা বিহারের অমুসলিম অধিপতি "রাজা বিক্রম কেশরী" হযরত মখদুম শাহদৌলা শহীদ ইয়ামেনী (রহঃ) এর আগমনে ক্ষিপ্ত হয়ে তার সৈন্যবাহিনী প্রেরণ করেন। কিন্তু সৈন্যবাহিনী পরাস্থ হয়ে ফিরে যায়। রাজা বিক্রম কেশরী পরপর করেকবার সৈন্য প্রেরণ করে পরাস্থ হয়, ইতোমধ্যে হযরত মখদুম শাহদৌলা শহীদ ইয়ামেনী (রহঃ) শাহজাদপুরের বিস্তীর্ণ অঞ্চলে ইসলাম ধর্ম প্রচার করেন। তার আধ্যাত্মিক শক্তি দ্বারা এই অঞ্চলকে মুসলিম অধ্যুষিত অঞ্চলে পরিণত করেন। শেষ যুদ্ধে হযরত মখদুম শাহদৌলা শহীদ ইয়ামেনী (রহঃ) এবং তার বহু সঙ্গী ও অনুসারী যোদ্ধা শহীদ হন, এই ধর্ম যুদ্ধে তার শহীদ হবার কারণে তিনি হযরত মখদুম শাহদৌলা শহীদ ইয়ামেনী (রহঃ) নামে পরিচিত লাভ করেন।
