Summary

DescriptionRanikhet, polo ground &c.jpg
English: Photograph of Ranikhet from the Macnabb Collection (Col James Henry Erskine Reid): Album of views of 'Naini Tal' taken by Lawrie & Co in 1895. Ranikhet (Queen's Field) was named after a legendary Queen who camped in the area and fell in love with it. Situated 49 miles north of Nainital, the town provides a spectacular view of the Himalayan range. Ranikhet is still a military cantonment and the Kumaon Regiment has been stationed there from 1780. This is a General view of the hill station of Ranikhet, with snowy peaks in the distance.
