British English: Royal Air Force Regiment (RAF Rgt) personnel marching as part of the larger procession in central London, part of the day's events commemorating the life, paying last respects during the funeral of Margaret Thatcher on 17 April 2013.
Baroness Thatcher, as she was latterly known, was the very first female prime minister (PM) of the United Kingdom (UK), leading the Conservative Party to three consecutive general election victories. This unheard of (at the time) trio of general election victories was no doubt due to her being a significantly strong, focused, powerful, and dedicated leader — with her single-minded resolve to restore full British sovereignty of the Falkland Islands in the south Atlantic Ocean, following their illegal occupation by armed military forces of Argentina (regulars and conscripts) on 1 April 1982. |
