MARUDHU PANDIYAR FORT - ARANMANAI SIRUVAYAL
RAMANATHAPURAM KINGDOM was divided into two divisions: Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai, by Thanjavur Nayaks in 1730 A.D. and handed over to the Marava chieftains. A palace was built at Siruvayal by the descendants of Raghunatha Thevar who ruled over the Sivagangai division.
A 13th-century Pandya temple is also found in this village. At the end of the 18th century, A.D. Marudhu brothers stayed here with their army and fought against the British. Hence, this fort is called Marudhu Pandiyar Fort.
