English: Kalinga sculptures – Chengamedu
Sculptures of Durga, Kali, Bhairavar and Bhairavi found here were brought by Rajendra Chola I (11ᵗʰ century A.D.) from the Kalinga country as a mark of his victory. These sculptures of red sandstone are excellent examples of Kalinga art. The northern part of the present Odisha state used to be called Kalinga in ancient times.
